The Inner Sanctum...

 Goodbye Blogstream

To all my friends,

The time has come for me to say goodbye. After much reflection, I thought it was only fair and right to give you a goodbye message before I go. So many times people that have meant something to us pack up and leave without a word, and although I nearly did that, I realized how it feels to me when somebody simply deactivates. It doesn’t feel good and I don’t want to do that to you.

I have deactivated the other three blogs I maintained (Bedtime Stores by PolarB, The Woman Within, and What the World Needs Now) The Inner Sanctum I will leave open, however, this will be my final post and my goodbye to you. I have come to know so many good friends on the Stream and it has brought me so much joy, laughter, sadness, silliness and a lot in between filled with a whole gamut of emotions. It has brought me to tears at times in both silliness and sadness. We have shared with one another glimpses of our lives and our triumphs and our heartbreaks. We have encouraged each other and lifted one another up when we see our friends are down. We mourn with them for their losses and we celebrate with them for their good news and celebrations. We have shared our stories with one another and made lasting friendships and connected our souls to one another.

There are people here that have become more than friends to me. They are part of my life and my heart. I will hold them close to me forever and I thank Blogstream and the Great Spirit for bringing them into my life. My relationships with them will not end because I leave the Stream. They are lifetime connections.

I have always tried to be positive and uplifting and to make a difference in the world and in the lives of the people I cross paths with, not only here but in real life too. Over the years and in my time here at Blogstream, I have grown as a person and will continue to walk my path just as each of you are walking your own paths. I know my integrity and my dignity are intact as I leave here. I am human just like you…no better and no less than any other.

I wish you much love and laughter; I wish for you peace and joy and many blessings throughout your life. It has been a pleasure to get to know you and to connect with each of you.

Peace & Blessings always,
PolarB ;)

 Megan's Journey ---Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Megan walked along a passageway that she had not been in before. She followed it to see where it would lead. She came to a end where the direction could go either to the right or to the left. She chose the left. There was a few people she passed along the way who nodded and smiled to her before she came to another set of doors. She wondered what was behind them and decided to find out.

She opened the doors and found herself in a magnificient garden setting. All kinds of pretty flower blossoms filled the air with delicate fragrances. She decided she liked this new discovery and it would be a good place to sit and think about all she had learned this morning. She walked along the garden path and found a bench in a little cove to sit down on.

Her mind drifted back to all Princess Fiona had told her. She couldn't believe that all this time she had thought her parents were dead and that was why she grew up with her aunt. Well it was true that her parents had died in an accident when she was a baby, but still she felt decieved because the truth had been held from her for all these years. She looked around and wondered what it would have been like to grow up here in this mysterious place. Would her life be different than it was now or would she still be questioning her direction at this point in her life?

She felt awed by this place and yet at the same time she was hard on herself for her part in shutting Princess Fiona out of her life so many years ago. After all Princess Fiona was her connection to The Land of Aquarious. She would have never guessed it would all come down to this and she wondered what she was going to do next. Would she stay here or would she return to the Upper World?

All that business about Shamira telling her they had hoped she would keep them alive in the hearts of people. What did that really have to do with her anyway? I am just a human being just like everyone else, but in fact she was not like everyone else. Her father was from the UpperWorld but her mother was from here, so what exactly did that mean? That she was part immortal too?

A voice startled her and jarred her from her thoughts.

"There you are!" he beamed.

Megan looked around and saw a familiar face. She smiled half heartedly.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to frighten you." Max said apologetically as he took a seat by her on the bench.

"That's okay. I was just thinking and trying to sort everything out." she replied.

"Do you want me to go and leave you alone?" he asked.

"No, actually I like that you are here. This is too much to think about and I am not getting anywhere but going around in circles." she smiled. "Besides... you were going to show me around later and I think I would really like that."

He grinned and flashed her his dimples again. "I'm glad. Have I told you that I think you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen?"

It was her turn to blush. "Ummm, no. I bet you say that to all the ladies, though."

"Oh no, not at all Megan. I really mean it. From the first moment I laid eyes on you, it was like my eyes opened and you filled them with your beauty."

She lowered her eyes and smiled. She could tell he was sincere and there was something about him that attracted her. She didnt speak for a moment.

"I'm sorry.. am I making you uncomfortable?" he asked concerned.

"No... I umm... it's just that nobody has ever said something like that to me before." she responded.

"What? No other man has captured your heart and told you how beautiful you are to them?" he scoffed. "I find that hard to believe. I would imagine that many men would be scrambling at the chance to be with you."

"Well thanks for the vote of confidence but it wasnt like I had guys beating a path to my door." she said and then thought of Jake. A concerned look crossed her face. Jake seemed a million light years away when it had just been yesterday that she ended their relationship.

Max saw it in an instance. "What is it?" he asked.

"Oh nothing... it's just that I was engaged to be married before I came here and never once in the few years we were together did he make me feel the way you have in just the short time I've known you."

That made him smile and it let him know that Megan was feeling the same thing he was feeling. Then another thought crossed his mind.

" When you say engaged, does that mean you are already taken? Cause if it does then it means my heart will be broken into a thousand pieces." he exclaimed as he drove an imaginary dagger into his heart and fell off the bench as if he had been slain.

She laughed at his antics. "No silly! Get up... I said I was engaged.. not I am engaged." She saw the look of relief cross his face and it gave her a reason to smile again at him.

"Good! Well, I mean... not good that you are not engaged, but good that I am free to pursue you then." he explained. "You looked distressed for a moment when I first brought it up. Did you love him?" he asked.

"I thought I did at one time... I think I loved him but I wasn't in love with him, if that makes sense." she paused. "I'm actually the one who ended it right before I came here."

"I'm sorry. I know it must have been hard to do, but in my own interests, I have to say I am glad that you are unattached." he said. "It gives me the opportunity to court you and win your heart."

She smiled at the possibility of that and stared into his deep green eyes for a moment. It sent a thrill of electricity through her and he knew it because he was feeling the same for her at this moment.

He was debating if he should kiss her when she looked away. The moment was lost. He could kick himself for missing the opportunity. He could almost taste her and feel the softness of the caress of her lips against his as he let his mind drift in the passion he felt. He wanted her so bad he ached, but he could wait, just not for very long.

She stood up and faced him. "So... why don't you take me around some more and show me your world." she gleamed.

He took a deep breath and stood up just inches away from her body. There was nothing more he wanted to do than to take her in his arms, but he just smiled again and agreed to show her around. He offered his arm as her escort and led the way. She linked her arm in his and gave him a slight giggle as they started the tour of the full gardens.

She knew what he was thinking just moments before and she wanted to taste his full lips too, however she didnt want to complicate things more than they were already complicated. She silently vowed to herself to take it nice and slow with Max.

She only hoped she could.

Chapter 7

Max returned shortly with two piping hot cups of Earl Grey tea and as he sat them down, Shamira appeared behind him to join the trio.

“Well I see Max here is taking good care of you two ladies this morning” she mused.

Max turned and blushed a bit. “Yes, I um… wanted to make sure our guest had everything she needed.” He glanced from Megan to Shamira, his face reddening in the process.

Shamira chuckled at the apparent attraction the handsome young man was trying to desperately hide. “Perhaps you could take Megan for a walk around the rest of the complex after lunch, Maxwell.” She suggested. “I am sure she would love exploring a bit more.”

“Yes, I would Max.” Megan spoke up and assured him.

He flashed another dimpled grin, took a bow and left the three women alone to speak.

“So, have you two had a bit of time to talk yet?” Shamira asked.

“Yes, she knows about her parents,” Princess Fiona said quietly. She glanced over at Megan for a reaction.

Megan took a deep breath. “It brought up more questions than answers, I’m afraid.”

She turned toward Shamira. “Like for instance, why was I raised in the Upper World if I belonged here?”

“We thought it would be best because your roots are from that world too. Your father was part of the Upper World and we made a decision to make arrangements for you there.” The queen said.

“So you cast me out because of my father?” Megan challenged.

“Quite the contrary, dear child, we wanted you to live in the Upper World so you could eventually help them to understand who we are and to keep us alive in their hearts.” She explained.

“But I still don’t understand.” Megan stated a bit confused. What in the world was she talking about? She waited for Shamira to go on.

“We made a mistake and decisions were made before we really had time to think things through Megan. I’ll be the first to admit it. But we also wanted you to be part of your father’s world and to know where he came from…however, we now realize we should have kept you here longer so you would also know your mother’s world and where you came from.” The queen tried to get her to see their reasoning.

“How could we expect you to keep us alive in the hearts of the Upper World when we did not give you the roots and the knowledge of your world here before you got there.” She hoped Megan would understand.

“We had no influence over the way you were brought up except for when Princess Fiona was there with you… but then.. after a time.. even then we had no control and you didn’t come back to the forest. It was our only link to you then and if we had known the rigidity of the woman who raised you, we would have brought you home sooner.”

“So if that wasn’t really my aunt, how did I end up with her then?” Megan asked incredibly.

Princess Fiona responded to her question this time.

“She took you in when you were a baby. We arranged for you to go to her home and we thought she was the right one. She loved children and she used to be a teacher in her younger years. She was overjoyed at first to have you and she was planning to get married and start a big family but it didn’t work out. The love of her life disappeared and it nearly broke her heart. She never got over it and it took the joy out of her life. It hardened her over the years and she became bitter. Over time we realized we had made an error, but we couldn’t change it by then.”

Megan had no idea that her aunt had her heart broken. Nothing would have ever given her that clue. She just knew that she was a no nonsense woman who didn’t believe in wasting time on frivolous notions, in her estimate. She wondered how anyone could turn so bitter when there was so much life out there to be lived and enjoyed.

“So basically, my whole life has been a lie.” Megan hung her head. This was all just too much to take in. No wonder she was confused. She felt something was wrong all her life but could never pinpoint what it was. Was it any wonder that she didn’t know who she was and where her life was headed?

“Megan…we wanted you to bring joy to others and keep us alive in the hearts of people and children everywhere. Too many, have forgotten to believe and will never know of us.” Shamira said.

“So basically I failed. I became part of the Upper World and I let you down. I stopped believing too.” She cried.

Shamira touched her gently on the arm. “You didn’t fail. You are here now and that’s what counts. This is your home and it will be up to you if you want to stay here. The choice will solely be yours.”

“We brought you here to tell you the truth and to support your decision, whatever you decide to do. We are your true family and we love and care about you.” The pixie fairy said as she patted Megan’s other arm.

“I need time to digest all of this.” Megan rose out of the chair and started to walk away. “I would however, like to know more about my parents, but right now I just need to be alone.”

“We understand and only want the best for you Megan.” the queen said and then watched the strong young woman walk away.

She turned to Princess Fiona. “So you think she’ll stay?” she asked.

“Hard to tell at this point, but she is strong willed and determined just like her mother was.” The fairy said as she smiled remembering the other head strong woman from long ago.

 Megan's Journey-- Chapters 5 & 6

Chapter 5

During the feast, musicians played jovial tunes that filled the air with happy melodies. Fiddlers, banjos and stringed instruments played as a crowd gathered round to dance lightheartedly in a circle, while everyone clapped their hands, laughing and singing along gaily. This was such a joyful place where each and every one in attendance was enjoying their selves immensely.

Megan ate until she was stuffed. The food was simply divine and that didn’t even include the deserts. Mounds of dripping chocolate and scrumptious fillings that filled light pastries that made your mouth water just looking at them. They were simply out of this world and nothing like she had ever tasted. In fact her whole experience here so far was nothing she would have believed except for the fact that she was sitting her in person experiencing it for herself.

During the festivities, Megan wanted desperately to talk to Shamira and Princess Fiona to ask them what she meant about returning to Aquarious, however, there simply wasn’t an opportunity to do so. A constant stream of well wishers kept her attention as they filed past her table to say a word or two to her and to greet and to welcome her back home.

When the huge feast settled down and all bellies were filled to capacity, the crowds slowly became quieter as many streamed out to other areas of the complex. Megan found herself trying to stifle a yawn as she became very tired all of the sudden. It must have been the food. Full bellies that make you content enough to want to lie down and rest.

She closed her eyes for a moment and thought she felt someone touch her shoulder. It was Princess Fiona. Quickly Megan opened her eyes and tried to cover her sleepiness.

“How about we take you back to your room and tuck you in for the night?” the little pixie suggested.

“But I have so much to ask you…” Megan protested as she fought to keep her eyes open.

Princess Fiona smiled. She remembered Megan’s stubbornness at not wanting to give up playing in the forest to go home from long ago. “There will be time in the morning..” She said as she helped Megan to her feet. “You’ve had a big day and I am sure you are tired from your journey. Tomorrow is another day sweet child.”

Megan started to protest again but Princess Fiona was right, beside she couldn’t even think straight right now and probably couldn’t hold a coherent conversation anyway. It was probably a combination of the wine that relaxed her and the fact that she was tired and full from a delicious meal.

She walked back slowly with the fairy as she let her guide her back to her guest quarters. Once inside her cozy room, she changed quickly into pajamas that were already laid out on the bed once again and she crawled inside the warm covers.

Princess Fiona sat on the edge of the bed and stroked Megan’s hair gently like a mother would her child. “You just drift off to sleep dear one, and tomorrow we will have plenty of time to talk.” She said to her softly.

“Yes…tomorrow…” Megan mumbled and settled in for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Megan was already drifting into a deep slumber as the woman kissed her gently on the forehead and left the room.

Chapter 6

Megan awoke to a fresh new day. She opened her eyes wide and looked around the room. It wasn’t a dream. She was still here. For a moment she let herself savor the previous night’s activities. She smiled to herself as she remembered the handsome man who escorted her to last night’s festivities. She wondered if she would see him again today. She realized that she didn’t even know his name.

She crawled out of bed and decided to take a nice hot shower. She went to the closet and opened it up and saw that there was a whole wardrobe of outfits in her size. She picked one out for the day and then hopped in the shower. The water felt good streaming down her body.

A half an hour later with her face all scrubbed clean and shiny and her hair freshly washed, she put on the new clothes which fit perfectly. She had selected a pretty matching shorts outfit and she checked herself out in the dressing table mirror. Not bad she thought. Her trim toned body looked good although she didn’t have to work out much to keep it that way. However, if she continued to eat meals like the one last night, she would have to rethink that.

She watched the fish in the porthole swimming peaceful in the ocean waters for a moment before she set out to explore more of her surroundings. She made her way back towards the glass bridge where the large sitting room was. On the way she passed a few people who greeted her warmly as she found a staircase that led down to the huge room.

Several people were already there chatting and laughing and they waved to her as she spotted Princess Fiona sitting in a little nook by herself. She smiled and made her way over to the familiar woman. She had a lot to discuss with her and maybe she would get some answers this morning.

“Good morning dear,” Princess Fiona rose to greet her. “I trust that you slept well?” she asked.

“Oh yes I did.” Megan exclaimed. “It was probably the best I have slept in years!”

Princess Fiona smiled a knowing smile. “Would you care for a cup of herbal tea?” she asked. “I always like to start my morning off light and a nice hot cup of tea does the trick for me. I am getting older you know.”

Megan looked up surprised. “Well it doesn’t look like you’ve aged one bit… in fact you look the same as when you used to come and play with me!” she said as she poured herself the last bit of tea from a pretty little china pot. She took a seat next to Princess Fiona.

“You always kept me young at heart all those years ago…Thank you for that, Megan.”
A pensive look crossed her face. “I have missed you.”

Megan bowed her head apologetically. “I’m sorry… sorry that I stopped coming to see you. I should have never stopped believing in you. I knew you were real… I knew it in my heart.” She felt ashamed for hurting the pixie fairy.

She paused a moment then looked directly at the other woman. “You were always real to me and I am sorry if I hurt you.” She said. All she saw and felt from Princess Fiona and was warmth, love and forgiveness in the older woman’s eyes..

“I know, dear one.. I know…” She took Megan’s hand and lifted Megan’s chin towards her. “It is why it is so important that you are here now.”

Megan reached over and hugged Princess Fiona and felt genuine caring and tenderness emit from her. She paused and then smiled through tears. “I have so many questions to ask you.” She said as she sat back into her chair.

“What was Shamira talking about last night? She said I have been here before, but I think I would have remembered this amazing place.” Megan questioned.

Princess Fiona took a long sip from her teacup before she answered. “It is true. You have been here before Megan, long long ago.”

“But how is that possible?” she asked.

“You were very young and probably don’t remember. Your parents are from Aquarious Megan. They fell in love and vowed to one another their love and devotion for eternity. There was a huge celebration when they joined together.”

“But I never even knew my parents… I lived with my auntie all my life and she was the one who raised me. You already know that because I lived there when we used to play together.” Megan said with disbelief.

“The woman you know as your auntie did raise you, but she is not your true family Megan.” Princess Fiona saw the look of surprise on the younger woman’s face and let her statement sink in.

Megan sat back astonished with this piece of news. There were so many unanswered questions and this new piece of information only brought more questions to her mind.

“Where are my parents now?” she finally asked.

“Unfortunately, they died when you were just a baby. You were born here in the Land of Aquarious. However shortly after your birth, your mother and father were in a tragic accident.” She hesitated as if remembering that horrible day herself.

“It was a great loss to our community here, for they were loved and well thought of.” Princess Fiona said with sadness in her voice.

“So why didn’t I stay here where I belonged if they were so well thought of?” Megan asked a bit angrily. She was reeling with the news that Princess Fiona knew her parents yet they were gone now and she would never get the chance to know them. It had always been one of the missing links in her life.

Princess Fiona tried to explain and she understood the confusion that Megan must be feeling. “There were things that we didn’t understand back then. Your father was not one of us originally, but we accepted him as our own after a time. Your mother was so in love with him when she brought him back here to our world. We were worried not only for your mother but for him as well. We didn’t understand how an outsider could fit in… it scared us that he could expose us or harm us in some way. But in the end our worries were for naught and he captured our hearts and we loved and accepted him as much as we did your mother.”

Megan listened intently as Princess Fiona told her about her parents. She had no idea that her parents fought such great odds to be together. It was a love story that you don’t often hear of in this day and age.

Princess Fiona went on. “When you were born, we were joyous with the news of your arrival. Such a little bundle of joy you were and a very happy baby! We all loved you from the minute we saw you and your mother and father were such proud parents.” She gleamed. “They were overjoyed at starting a family of their own and they loved you so much Megan.”

She continued. “Shortly after, your mother and father were going to go visit the Upper World to tell his family of your arrival. They thought it was the right thing to do and even though your father had not seen his family in several years, he was such a proud papa that he couldn’t wait to share the good news. Something terrible happened on the ascent and a violent storm caused the waters to churn turbulently. By the time your parents realized they were in trouble and started to turn back, it was too late. Not even the creatures of the sea could save them and they drowned.”

“How horrible,” Megan said. It was hard for her to realize this was her history and her own parents that Princess Fiona was talking about. Because she had never known them, the grief of loss was not there but she felt the woman’s anguish in reliving the tale.

“I am sorry Megan to be the one to tell you this news of your parents, but it is time that you know the truth.” She said in a weary tone.

Still Megan had more questions she wanted answered but for now they could wait. She wanted to ask how it came to be that she ended up living with a woman whom she thought was her aunt but really wasn’t, and why she was sent to the Upper World in the first place.

She took a sip of cold tea and grimaced. She was just about to look around to see where to get a refill.

“Let me get that for you Lady Megan.” A strong male voice said that came out of nowhere.

She looked up into the face of the handsome man who she had briefly thought about this morning and now here he was standing before her.

“Okay,’ she said as she smiled. “But only if you tell me your name.”

He grinned back as he took her cup from her and reached down to get Princess Fiona’s cup as well.

“My name is Max.” he smiled a brilliant smile that showed a hint of dimples in the corners of his mouth. His dark curly hair and gorgeous green eyes sparkled with definite mischief.

Megan smiled again. “Max…” she liked the way his name rolled off her tongue. “It is a pleasure to see you again.” She hesitated for a slight moment. “I wanted to thank you for escorting me last night.”

“The pleasure was all mine, my Lady.” He said with a wink as he retreated to fetch their tea. Megan watched him as he walked away admiring his build among other things.

Princess Fiona cleared her throat. “He’s a striking lad isn’t he?”

Megan grinned as she kept her eye on him. “Yes he most certainly is.”
