Good Day Sunshine!
What a beautiful crisp morning this is! I am sitting here in Sophie's room right in front of the window and it is absolutely beautiful out there. I checked the temp and it is almost 50 degrees so it is a bit nipply out there so I may wait just a bit to go out.
My computer has been sucessfully moved upstairs and into Sophie's room, which is also our guest room..(don't tell Sophie that though...she thinks she is the queen of every room in the house!)
I am all ready to BLOG BLOG BLOG when I get out of the hospital. I am on countdown now and have 12 days to go. The doctor's office called me Friday afternoon and said we have a cancellation, you want to have the surgery done Monday? NO NO NO!!!! I have to mentally prepare myself and I am still training a person at work to fill in for me while I will be gone. Poor girl.. she says "OMG! You do so much...how am I ever going to do all this and my job too?" I told her just take one day at a time and do what you can. It is okay to ask for help. Plus we already moved the Halloween party up a week because of me and I wouldnt miss Taylor and Joey coming for the world! So nope I will keep my surgery as planned.
Yesterday I sat right in the middle of my bed most of the day and sewed and cut and snipped working on my costume. Eveytime I got a piece of it done I had to try it all on to make sure everything hangs just right and is in all the right places. Peak your interest? Ha Ha! You still have to wait!

I know I am bad but I love anticipation especially when I am not on the other end of it.
I have got so much to do this week. I still have to drag out all the Halloween boxes and display stuff to go to the party. This includes an electric chair that I made. Three full size witches that are standing around a cauldren, my ring around the rosie ghosts and all the cemetary stuff that will make up the graveyard. That includes bodies and tombstones and all kinds of things that light up and go bump in the night. I also have some new stuff to add to the party this year.. A bride and groom 9 foot skeletons that will hang and greet people. Sounds like Mama Bear and my sister are adding some pretty cool stuff too this year. As you can tell... I get excited about Halloween and it is almost a tie between Halloween and Christmas as my favorite holidays.
Let's see. What else have I got planned this week? Well I have therapy tomorrow night after work. That means I wont get home until after 8. I have to leave about 5:50 in the morning for work too because we are doing school screenings Monday and Tuesday. This is where we go to inner city schools and give all the kids eye exams and for those that need glasses we provide them free of charge. I love doing this every year and it is so much fun interacting with the kids. Sometimes you hear some pretty funny stuff from the mouths of kids. Sometimes the kids are shy and reserved and sometimes you can tell they maybe dont have such a good like at home. Some are so talkative that they tell you things you dont expect. But all in all it is great. I love the little ones the best because they are just adorable. We use picture charts for them because they dont know their letters yet and it is soo cute the way they say ands think things. I love children anyway and this is one of my favorite times of the year.
At some point in the week I have got to do some major cleaning to this house! The kitchen floor needs a good scrubbing and waxing because it is going to be a while before I am able to do it again so I want to get it done before I go in. I need to straighten up my art room too. I am currently working on three new oil paintings and my room is a mess! Since I pulled my computer stuff out of there I need to rearrange the desk/art table. We have two new screen doors that we are putting on our back screened porch and they need to be sealed sometimes this week while they can still dry in the warm air. I've got to get this done before dampness of Fall really sets in. We are trying to do our Fall cleanup of the yard to prepare it for winter.
I have to go over to a nearby hospital that has a physical therapy place and check out their facility. I already went to one place but I am not going there for my rehabilitation. They want me to stay there for three weeks and I am unwilling to do that. It is just like a nursing home and I would much rather stay home in my own bed and be where I am comfortable... I have my pre-op appoinment Friday morning at the hospital. So it is going to be a busy busy week for me. Saturday is the party so I need to have everything done by then.
Well.. Sophie had her vet visit. I found out that in cat years she is actually 84 years old! No wonder the poor girl is having a tough time of things. I would be too if I was 84! Sophie has several things going on and her kidneys are bad. The vet wanted us to think about giving her intravenous fluids like an IV drip which would require a huge needle being put in her everyday by us. I am not sure I want to put her through that. She took some blood to see how far her kidney problems have progressed. We will find out next week. Sophie has been dropping weight each time we go to the vet. She only weighed at the most 6.25 lbs but she has dropped to 5.25 lbs now. This is related to her kidney stuff too. We just try to get her to eat whatever she will which these days is mostly canned food. Sophie also has a growth on her foot that we showed her vet and she said it could be malignant. It has to come off. She took Soph in the back and was going to see if she could caterize it but after she shaved her foot she said she thought it would be best if we brought her back because she may need anesthesia to do it. She did say though that after she could see it better that it may not be our worst fears but it still has to come off. She gave us some antibiotics for her wheezing and breathing issues. She was concerned because Sophie has been digging at herself and we found she picked up a flea somewhere. The vet only found one but she said for every one fleas there could be six because of the hatching larva stuff. Sophie must have got it when we went camping over the summer in Tennessee or out on the screened in porch somehow. Never in her 17 years has Sophie had a flea because she is an indoor cat, so no wonder she was scratching... poor thing. she will feel better soon.- We did an Advantage treatment and will follow up with another one next month to make sure any eggs are not hatched.
So we will know more after next week about the kidneys and about the thingy on her foot. At this point we want to make Soph as comfortable as possible, not put her through any traumas or things that will be upsetting to her. She is our baby and we will do whatever it takes to make her comfortable and secure while she is here with us.
Well.... I am going to head out here in a few minutes.. and see if it is any warmer.. Lovie has already hit the door and outside playing... She said she is going to biuld a huge bon-fire to burn some tree branches we have... I better go supervise! She lives for being outside and working in the yard all the time. She pouts in the winter cause she cant go out and play! Me..I'd rather stay inside where it is all snuggly and warm or better yet on a warm sunshiney beach somewhere! YEAH!

Have a great week Peeps and if I dont get on here much... I will see ya on the flip side!
Love,
PolarB ;)
