The Inner Sanctum...

 Spirit Guide me...

Hey peeps...

Hope you all had a great weekend. I spent the day with Mama Bear and another friend yesterday. Early in the morning we left to go to a little place that is an eclectic and artsy fartsy college town about an hour or more away. I was looking for something specific there - an egg shaker that I use when we drum because my favorite one has a crack in it now. Unfortunately I did not find one but my friend got a new drum that was pretty cool. I did buy several things one of which was four smooth stones that each said HOPE LOVE STRENGTH and PEACE on them. They are sitting here right in front of me now on my desk...We spent the day there and had a great lunch and then on the way back stopped at a Farmers Market where I bought several more things and then we headed back to my Mom's for dinner... I was pooped and actually my knees were hurting something terrible....Had to take three pills to help the pain...still hurting today quite a bit but life goes on and they will get better...I do believe that I am eventually going to have to get surgery done but I dont want to think about that right now...

After dinner another friend join us who is our massage therapist who is wonderfully divine by the way.... Man I need a massage! We had our Native American drumming circle out in the woods around a crackling fire. It was pretty awesome. I get some many good messages and confirmation there when I listen to my spirit guides. Wonderfully nurturing. After that we just kind of hung out and sat around the firepit and took in the stars and the nearly full moon and the sounds of the crickets and frogs croaking... Peaceful and calming.....

I have had some things on my mind lately and I have been at a standstill of sorts on my book simply because I am at a tough place...I am trying to figure out what and how much to disclose about my ritual abuse... because it is so horrifying and unbelievable I am not sure how much to put in. I am concerned about triggering others and I also want to give hope to others who have been through the same thing. I forget sometimes that I need to let go of the process and just let my spirits guide me... When I do that, it will flow and be exactly the way it needs to be. Mom confirmed that to me yesterday while we were driving and I got the same confirmations from my Grandmother Sun when we had our healing circle last night. I need to open up to let the blessing flow through me and it will come out exactly as it is supposed to. Sometimes it seems so easy and I should know that by now but even I need the guidance and the reminders once in a while... That is what is great about being human.

I am making alot of good contacts with other survivors which is great support for all involved. There are some great websites out there with beautiful poetry and artwork and just some really amazing survivors. Sometimes when I do research or come across sites that others have been through the same experiences as me, it makes me sad to think there are so many of us who were hurt but the thing that keeps coming to the forefront of my mind is that we are here and we did survive and we are helping others and making a difference in one another's lives and really when you think about it, isn't that what life is about? Living and learning from one another, helping and caring about one another, inspiring and lifting each other up when they need a hand. I am glad the spirit works through me and I am truly blessed.

Well.... it's back to work tomorrow. I have enjoyed my time off and it certainly went fast for me but I was able to relax and just be for a while and that is always a good thing.

Hope you are all enjoying life and that you are blessed too... we can all be grateful for the little things in our lives and spread the kindness around.

Love to you all!

Friday Fun Facts…

1. I love salsas and tomato sauces however I cannot stand the taste of a fresh tomato! YUCK!

2. I love letting my inner child out to play. We should all nurture the little one inside of us.

3. I hate apple juice but love apples. Go figure!

4. Flowers make me happy. in fact I went and bought some this morning.

5. Our electricity has went out three times this week! UGH! This morning it was out when I woke up and I desperately wanted a good cup of coffee, so I went out to breakfast by myself... seemed like a good enough reason to me! The electricity finally came on four hours later...

Guess that's it for this week!

CORNHOLE?? What the heck is that????

CORNHOLE???? WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?????

Enquiring minds want to know!!! Yes I heard you and I will answer all your questions my little ones! In my last post I made mention that we played a game called Cornhole….many of you may not know what it is even if you do live in the states, or you may know it by another name. It is a new craze that is taking over here in the area and a few of our neighboring states. There are tons of websites that explain the game and sell the game but really you can make it fairly cheaply by just going online and getting the specific dimensions of the platform and build it yourself. Here is the description of it and once you play it, it becomes addicting and FUN! You’ll be hooked!

What is Cornhole?

It has been called many things, Corn Toss, Bean Bag, Bean Toss, Soft Horseshoes, Indiana Horseshoes, but to many of us born and raised in Kentucky and the southern part of Ohio, the game is passionately referred to as Cornhole.

It has been said that the game originated in
Germany in the 14th century, and then was rediscovered in the hills of Kentucky over 100 years ago.

The truth is, who really knows, but the game is great fun for all ages and can be played anywhere!

Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.

Scoring can be swift and the lead may change hands several times in a match before the winner is decided.

The game is generally played tournament style with an individual or team being named the champion at the end of the tournament.

Why play Cornhole / Corn Toss?

The biggest reasons to play Cornhole or Corn Toss instead of horseshoes or other similar games is that Cornhole can be played anywhere and everyone can play Cornhole.

If you can aim and toss a corn bag 30 feet, you can master the game of Cornhole - It's great for family outings.

Cornhole can be played anywhere - driveways, parks, backyard, campgrounds, beaches and even in-doors.

Safe for everyone - no metal or pointed objects. Corn bags are made of extra soft 12 oz. duck canvas material and filled with pliable high quality feed corn.

No muss; no fuss. Two cornhole platforms and 8 corn bags and you’re ready to play the game.

Very portable. Can be taken anywhere. Fits in most car trunks and there are fold-down models that are even more portable.

Horseshoes require a sand pit and are hard for the kids to pitch, lawn darts require a lawn and hasn’t been seen since the 70’s, ring toss was made for children and bean bags are for wimps; Cornhole is the game for everyone!

It’s great fun for the whole family.

Actually I was trying to find a picture of it for you but it won’t let me load it into my gallery so if you type in Cornhole board games into your internet search it should bring up some pictures for you.

That being said…. Here is the recipe for my Strawberry Blueberry desert I made for the 4th of July.

Fresh strawberries

Strawberry Glaze

Whipped Cream

Frozen Blueberries

2 packs of shortcakes

Thaw out the blueberries and rinse them in a colander. Pat semi dry with a paper towel. Set aside. Clean the fresh strawberries and slice them. Save a few smaller whole ones. Okay go ahead and eat one… you know you want to! Crumble up the shortcakes into the bottom of a deep casserole type dish. In a separate bowl, mix the strawberry glaze with half of the sliced strawberries. Pour over the top of the crumbled shortcakes. Add a thick layer of whipped cream over the glaze layer. Top the whipped cream with the thawed blueberries and the remaining sliced strawberries. Add a few whole strawberries on top on the center for garnish. Enjoy!

Notice I did not give any specific measurements, because it depends on how big of a dish you put it in and what your preferences are and I usually don’t measure when I cook. I buy large sizes of things and make a large batch and it is sooooooooooo good! Yummy!

Well that’s all peep until tomorrow! Hope you play Cornhole and eat something yummy!

Love yas!

 Day after

Hello Blogging buddies!

Hope your 4th of July celebrations were everything you wanted it to be... Mine was great and I am a bit tired today... I wore my old knees out too much but I had alot of fun being with family yesterday.

I went to Mama and Papa Bear's for the festivities. We had cornhole and rocking loud music and lots of people, kids and family there....then the storms blew in and it got a bit scary! Micro-burst of winds and pouring rain.. We all ran for cover into my sister's house after we secured the canopy and the chairs. The winds were so strong they knocked down three big oak trees across the drive that comes into Mama's house so they had to take the four wheeler and the tractor and a chainsaw to clear them out.

Unfortunately there were downed electrical wires poles and trees down all around town and many roads were blocked or closed down.. It also meant we lost power for the rest of the afternoon and night. Mama had planned a big fish fry with all the freezer full of fish that Papa has caught from Florida and Canada and that made it interesting on how to cook it.. The plan was to grill the Northern Pike, and deep fry and skillet fry the Tilapia and Walleye and Bass. But with no electric and all that thawed fish we had to improvise.

Not to worry cause Papa is handy on the spot and he hooked up the generator to the camper so Mama, me and my sister got busy inside cooking up all that fish! Beer batter and cornmeal batter and then Papa grilled a bunch too! We used the oven to fix my sister's party potato casserole and the greenbeans and other stuff got heated in the camper microwave!

All and all even with the storm the food was plentiful and delicious! I made a huge strawberry shortcake desert with blueberries and strawberries and lots of whipped creme and there was blackberry cobbler and macaroni sald and tons of other food! The rains stopped after dinner and we hooked the stereo back up to the generator and continued out party! The kids sawm in the pond and ran around and played. People played cornhole and volleyball and at dusk we all watched the guys set off the fireworks and all the kids each did their own bottle rockets and tons of sparklers too! Very fun and
the fireworks were great!

When I left around 1:00 last night the electric still had not come on yet, but that was okay. It was time to go to bed anyway. This morning we have electric and there is alot of damage all around... some roofs off a house I passed this morning, lots of downed trees and it almost looks like a mini tornado went through with the path it made. Luckily we had very little damage.. Our patio furniture got tossed around a bit and a chair got broke, we have a few limbs off a trees and our corn in the garden looks like a crop circle went through it! But everything survived and life is good.

Hope you all had a great time and stayed safe and got to enjoy some fireworks too! I guess that's about it folks- Have a good one and until next time- hugs and kisses!

Love,

 Happy 4th of July

Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July…

Think about the freedoms that your country has fought for you to have the right to enjoy and the things that are the most important to you on this holiday celebration… Know that you can give thanks for all the wonderful things in your life and the freedoms that we experience in the way we live our lives each and every day.

Be good … be safe…  and above all relax and have a great time in whatever you choose to do!

Peace and Light always,
