I've been on vacation all week and enjoying being home, working in the gardens and planting my flowers. My body on the other hand is saying enough already! We had 8 yards of mulch delivered which was a whole truckload! The pile was bigger than we expected and it was nearly half as high as the house! YIKES! We have been shoveling it into a wheel barrel and taking all around to each bed and laying it on thick to prevent them weeds that I hate digging out. We still have a ton of mulch left but still have several more beds to do and the pile is slowly going down. I've been weeding and mulching for nearly 5 days now. My aching back and knees are saying stop please. Okay so I listened.

Today we only did a wee bit of work outside and then we headed to the lake. It was windy and a little cooler. The beach area is not opened yet and the water was really high. It covered the whole sand area and was up into the grass. Lovie and I decided to go for a walk in the woods to find neat looking pieces of driftwood. I love adding interesting pieces to my garden beds for a bit of character. While on the trail we saw deer tracks in the mud. Must have been a momma and her baby from the hoof prints we saw. Then we came upon an area that the butterflies loved. We saw orange ones and blue ones and black spotted ones. Even a solid yellow one. I had my camera with me but it was in the car! DARN! But the butterflies we beautiful floating effortlessly on the air around us.

We found a couple pieces of driftwood and headed back to the car for an impromptu lunch. I always love doing that! A makeshift picnic in the park! We just had snacks and fruit with us but still a picnic is a picnic! As we were leaving I spotted some white geese and took a few pictures of them. On the way out Lovie said -Look there is a deer by the side of the road! She edged up closer and I took some pictures. The deer let us get about 6 foot away from it and I even was able to talk to it gently without scaring it. It was drinking from a muddy puddle and we were kind of amazed that it did not just run away as we got closer. Lovie though maybe it was hungry and searching for food or it was just a younger baby deer.

As we left the park we saw ambulances and a terrible accident up ahead of us. They closed the road down because there had been a fatal accident that had just happened right along the route we were traveling. A woman was killed just minutes before we got there. Lovie and I looked at each other and counted our blessings. An angel saved us again. The incident with the deer was unusual yet it had delayed us by about five minutes. Otherwise that accident could have been us.

Sometimes we just never know when we are receiving a blessing in disguise. Yet I am thankful and I will remember to count my blessings each and every day.

Have a safe holiday weekend! Have fun and enjoy what each moment holds. Tiny miracles are happening all around you each and every day. We just have to open our eyes to them in order to appreciate them.

 It's WACKY WEDNESDAY!!!!

Pop those eyes back in their sockets

Yes you heard me right!
It's WACKY WEDNESDAY!!

Welcome to my new weekly segment,
where you'll find something a bit odd,
bizarre or hilariously funny!

Perhaps you'll be tempted to
bust a gut or crack a smile.

Or maybe you'll just be grossed out
and take a step back so you won't get
any on your shoe.

Anyway, hopefully you'll find something to
laugh about every Wednesday that will get
you over the hump so to speak. I'll be
posting something a bit out of the ordinary,
some cartoons and a funny song or two.

Today's song selection is an oldie but a goodie.
You young'ins out there probably won't
remember this one, but it got a lot of
air time back in my day.

So buckle them seat belts up...
we are in for a ride.

Enjoy...have fun...
and don't try this at home kiddies!

 Sharing my talents...

I wanted to share some of poetry and artwork with you. This is one of my favorite Native American poems that I wrote several years ago. I thought this particular piece of my artwork went well with it too. The painting is called "Native Warrior Woman"

Enjoy!

The Circle

Drumbeats steady

like the thunder on a storm raged sky,

pounding a fierce crescendo, then slow

to the steady rhythm of my soul,

connecting the beat

to my pulse, my breath, my heart...

The vision appears;

Native voices loud and strong

lifting towards the heavens,

singing their songs, their chants, their prayers,

to the Great Spirit,

honoring Mother Earth and Father Sky.

Wise elder women dancing,

shawls swaying, eyes closed,

lost in the rhythm of the dance...

Closing the circle around the pulsing drum

Native men, young and old

adorned with feathers and beaded buckskin

bare flesh painted with brilliant colors

come alive in the firelight's glow.

Lifting hands, shaking rattles,

voices carried high into the mountains,

their feet stomping, pounding, dancing,

connecting to the center of the earth

and to all that is living

as they circle the drum...

A celebration of the Dance of Life

of the drumbeat that echos in the hearts

of all living creatures great and small.

Faster and faster the beat of the drum

pounds it's steady hypnotic rhythm

as it dances to the fire's flames

in perfect harmony.

My heartbeat connects to the pulse

and the drum and I become one...

I am a part of the circle

and the drum is within me

in my heart and in my soul.

I open my eyes and return

to the greater Circle of Life

and thank the Great Spirit

above for the gift of my vision...

The drumbeat lives within me.

 Saturday Night Blog Fever!

Whatz Up Peeps?!! I wanted to join in the fun on this lovely Saturday evening and post some music for your listening pleasure.

These selections tonight are some of my personal favorites. I wanted to start off the night with a fun tune. Celestial Soda Pop is by a fellow named Ray Lynch. His music is very unique and that is why I really like him. I love finding great artists off the beaten path. You just never know what you are going to discover.

Miles Davis is another grand oldie but goodie. I love his stuff. Jazz it up for a great night or slow it down for a mood setter. Either way you know he is going to be good.

The rest of the tunes are beautiful soothing piano music which I adore. There are so many artist that I could have selected however it is hard to find my favorite ones. Here are two of my absolute favorite pianist -David Lanz and Jim Brickman. I hope you'll take the time to check them out. Beautiful melodies for your ears.

If you really find yourself liking the soothing sounds of the piano, try checking out Suzanne Ciani, Michael Straugh, Peter Kater, Kamal and Paul Speer. All great within their own rights.

Lovie and I are headed out for the evening but I shall return later and get busy answering my comments!

Have a great Blog Hop and enjoy all the beautiful music your ears can soak in! Enjoy the tunes!

Catch up to ya real soon!
