The Inner Sanctum...

 THE CIRCLE

Thought I would re-post some older stuff that has been buried... hope you enjoy my poem. Re-posted from Oct 10th- -

The Circle

Drumbeats steady
like the thunder on a storm raged sky,
pounding a fierce crescendo, then slow
to the steady rhythm of my soul,
connecting the beat
to my pulse, my breath, my heart...
The vision appears;
Native voices loud and strong
lifting towards the heavens,
singing their songs, their chants, their prayers,
to the Great Spirit,
honoring Mother Earth and Father Sky.
Wise elder women dancing,
shawls swaying, eyes closed,
lost in the rhythm of the dance...
Closing the circle around the pulsing drum
Native men, young and old
adorned with feathers and beaded buckskin
bare flesh painted with brilliant colors
come alive in the firelight's glow.
Lifting hands, shaking rattles,
voices carried high into the mountains,
their feet stomping, pounding, dancing,
connecting to the center of the earth
and to all that is living
as they circle the drum...
A celebration of the Dance of Life
of the drumbeat that echos in the hearts
of all living creatures great and small.
Faster and faster the beat of the drum
pounds it's steady hypnotic rhythm
as it dances to the fire's flames
in perfect harmony.
My heartbeat connects to the pulse
and the drum and I become one...
I am a part of the circle
and the drum is within me
in my heart and in my soul.
I open my eyes and return
to the greater Circle of Life
and thank the Great Spirit above
for the gift of my vision...
The drumbeat lives within me.

Another of my poems based on my Native American spirituality.
Hope you enjoyed it.

 Ragdoll Annie

Ragdoll Annie

Ragdoll Annie with Hazel eyes,
A head full of hair, the baby cries.
Born to a couple and full of life,
it was supposed to be happy for man and wife.
But wife ran away
and man's left to cope
with Ragdoll Annie.
Was there ever any hope?
Like a ragdoll tossed back to and fro
from home to home
Which way do I go?
Confused and unwanted,
abused and tossed aside.
Nobody to love her,
she wants to run and hide
deep in a closet and far away.
Maybe someone will find me
and love me someday...
Yes, Ragdoll Annie,
I've heard your muffled cries.
Let me brush away the tears
from your pretty little eyes.
You're safe now with me,
I've built us a home,
don't worry anymore
you'll never again be alone.
We've always been together,
You're my child inside.
I'll protect you forever
until the day we die.
Ragdoll Annie,
we won't be abused anymore.
This I can promise.
This I know for sure.
