Every year at this time of the season and holidays, I always get a bit sentimental... I think about the holidays and how grateful I am to be living and happy in my life. Yes it's true, that Thanksgiving is a time when you are busy preparing the meal, stuffing the turkey and the hustle bustle of trying to get everything ready for the big feast day, but really when it comes down to it, it is to me, a day to be reflective for all we have in this life. It is a day of thanks.
I think back to my life and growing up and look at where I came from....and I take a moment to look at my life now and how far I have come.... and I realize I have so much to be thankful for.

Right now, I have food to eat, I have a warm bed to sleep in at night, I have a roof over my head, I have a good job, I have nice clean clothes, I have a great vehicle that gets me where I need to go, I have a woman in my life who I love passionately and she returns the same to me. I have friends who love me and laugh with me and we have moments that we help one each other and share our lives, laughs and dreams... I have a beautiful little furball kitty that is the most lovable creature on earth. I have a family that means so much to me that I never had growing up. They love and accept me for who I am and without reservation and I do them too, more than they'll ever know. I have nice furniture and a home of my own. I have a yard that gives me so much pleasure and peace. I have my dreams and my creativity that nobody can ever take away from me. I am very thankful and grateful for all these things.

Growing up I never had a permanent home, I lived in twenty two different other people's homes. I never had a real family, my birth mother left me when I was six months old and I had to deal with an abusive father for 17 years coming in and out of my life. I never felt I belonged anywhere. I felt like an orphan all my life. The Thanksgivings I remember were full of chaos and heated arguments, and that was if we even had a Thanksgiving dinner because to tell ya the truth, there were times we didn't hardly have any food. It really depended on where I was staying at the time as to whether it was good or bad....

So today and on Thanksgiving day, I will be counting my blessings- for I have much to be thankful for.

There's a saying that keeps coming to my mind- It says:
"Everyday may not be good; but there's something good in everyday."

I really like that.. not sure who said it but they were a wise soul...

Count your blessings people- even when you think you don't have anything to be thankful for, I'm sure that you do if you open your eyes to see what is around you..... Peace and Light!

IN A MESSAGE POSTED ON MY ROUTE 66 STORY- I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM DOCK AND I WANTED TO RESPOND PUBLICLY TO HIS ADVICE. HE WRITES:

you really need to take a remedial english course .... If you like to write, for God's sake, learn how !! You need more than just ideas to be able to write. There's structure, spelling ...you know, all the things you "should" have learned in college .... you DID go to college right? I'm sure you don't like the crits' here, most young people don't .... unless your smarter than most, of course you can always pay someone to print you up a few copies for you and your friends and call it "your book" (actually this is called "vanity Press" release and those who can't write, but think they can, do it all the time for their ego's ...... If you want to see an acomplished, published writer's work, check out "IT SEEMS TO ME" .... Now lets see what you do with this advise, write me back with a bunch of sophmoric rants ... or take the advice, study my work and learn to freakin' write !!! Dock

ACTUALLY, DOCK, I WASN'T ABLE TO ATTEND COLLEGE, AS MUCH AS I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY, I WAS TRYING TO SURVIVE ON MY ON AT AGE 17, SO I'M JUST A HIGH SCHOOL KID, ALTHOUGH BE IT A MIDDLE AGED ONE NOW. WHILE I APPRECIATE THE VIEWS OF OTHERS AND WELCOME ALL ADVICE, WHETHER IT BE GOOD SOUND ADVICE OR YOUR OWN PERSONAL VIEWS, I RESPECT EVERYONE'S RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINIONS. I AM WELL AWARE OF VANITY PRESSES AND ALTHOUGH THAT MAY BE A CHOICE FOR SOME, I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THAT TYPE OF PUBLISHING. SPEAKING OF WHICH, I HAVE ALREADY HAD SEVERAL ARTICLES AND STORIES PUBLISHED, AND FOR THAT FACT SOME OF MY POETRY AND PHOTOGRAPHS AS WELL. WHILE I UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR PROPER STRUCTURE, PUNCTUATION, ETC..., I CHOSE NOT TO MAKE IT A POLISHED PIECE IN ORDER TO SAVE SPACE AND TIME ON THE POSTING.HAD IT BEEN FOR AN ACTUAL SUBMISSION TO A PUBLISHER, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SPIT SHINED CLEAN. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE THOUGH, HOWEVER.... I FEEL I AM DOING JUST FINE ON MY OWN. - PS- THANKS FOR INVITING ME TO VISIT YOUR SITE, HOWEVER, I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE, AND IT REALLY DID NOT APPEAL TO ME AND BTW (BY THE WAY, IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANT) ACCOMPLISHED IS SPELLED WITH TWO C's, NOT ONE.
